About Ethiopia Time — Our Mission & Background

Ethiopia Time is a free utility for anyone who needs the current time in Ethiopia, today's Ethiopian calendar date, or a quick conversion between Ethiopian and Gregorian dates. It is built to be fast, accurate, and easy to understand, with no clutter and no sign-up.

Ethiopia keeps East Africa Time, UTC+3, all year. But in daily life, hours are counted from dawn and dusk, not midnight. We show both the standard clock and the traditional count, so the time on screen matches what you hear on the street in Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian calendar runs about seven to eight years behind the Gregorian calendar and has 13 months, including a short one called Pagume. It marks Enkutatash, the new year, in September.
